Super Random

Happy Valentine's Day VS. Happy Midterm Exam Day

I had my third and last Midterm Exam yesterday "Ma bagheena!"

Why "H/ M/ E/ D/"? well, for two reasons:

1- it was in the V day!! 2-In this exam I did much better than the previous ones!

I feel quite relaxed now, after being totally busy for the last two weeks.

Morning..morning ,Heading 2 the D & StarBucks
Concentration is a must! Small/Short Caramel Macchiato with Two Times Extra Caramel plzzz!

Where all the guys go?!

The Silence... Before the Exam

Our class room

I miss my niece little SaroOon!

I've couple of books to read, and others to order!

Need to get more from the e-bars,

The e-bar is a combination of "multi-fibres & dry fruits".

It fills your stomach for hours, excellent

meal for breakfast. frankly, it does not

taste that good. but it sounds so healthy.

Traffic is one thing I don't like about Sunday's and especially after

the weekends. being late for 15 minutes or so,means staying up to an hour searching for parking!

Second Week At AUM

I've been busy lately with the beginning of my first semester at AUM for the MBA program. So far everything tend to be just cool..I have three lectures for this semester each lecture require 3 hours attendance per day/week, and a half hour break in the middle of the lecture.
The timing is somehow flexible but since it is a long way driving from Kuwait city to Al Egaila where the new building of the University located, I am reaching home late at night!
The teaching staff are excellent, and the program was so organised and very well structured.
I also had a different/positive view/concept for business , which one day was out of my concern before attending the MBA program. I didn't like financial accounting that much :( but I started loving economics :)
I eat a late breakfast the day I am having lectures and skip both lunch and dinner meal! I might eat light snack when I am back to home from the University, but the thing that I don't have time for dinner, usually I don't eat late at night! and I barely have my shower when am back, spend few hours reading/surfing, then sleEep Zzzzz.
As for lunch, if I ate my lunch before going to the University I would end up in laziness! and I might lose concentration! "in fact it does not really matter since it would be an added advantage to lose some weights"!

MBA First EVENT - AUM

Today we had our first MBA event presented by: Chuck Johnson, Director of Master's and Executive Programs - Purdue University. The event started at 6:00 PM, Jawa Ballroom, Palms Hotel and ended at 8:30PM.

The event was so organized, AUM employee and the event organizers were very kind and really helpful, everything was just perfect. It's just that you have the feeling of comfort while you are siting there. There were 150 registered/attendance for the MBA program that will be starting in October 2008. Each 5 students are preselected and grouped in a table with their names in stands. Each person is given a red rose with a bag that contains the MBA program Handbook, T-shirt with AUM logo, files with our names engraved on the box+ pen and a CD.

The event started with Johnson demonstrating the MBA program and answering each student questions. Fahad Al-Othman continued the speech after Johnson. He started with the Kunafa story ;) which was really exciting along with a real Kunafa given to each attendance. It was a cool event a mixture of orientation, socializing and humor.

Settling with AUM

It's been a while trying to take further step toward the master degree, although I was confused between MBA and ITC, and whether to go for KMBS or AUM when it comes to MBA. I spent some time thinking and rethinking! Things started to become clear enough for me. I made up my mind and decided to enroll in AUM.
I went there for the interview, submitted the application with some other papers, and paid the registration fees. Yesterday I received a call from them to collect and sign the agreement paper and pay the enrollment deposit. I was so excited and confused at the same time! Excited because I will learn something new. Confused because MBA wasn't my first choice and still I am not sure to what would be my overall performance :(
Still I have to submit both TOEFL and GMAT. didn't schedule the exam yet! but hopefully will do it ASAP.
Joining the business school will never change or alter my interest as an IT person, I believe it will add some value to my career future as well as extending my knowledge and skills in the business filed, which may contributes later on my own business success. However, I will keep updating my self with tech every now and then! and practice what I've learned.

AUM or KMBS

It's been a while since I made my decision about having my master degree! I chose The MBA "Master of Business Administrator" among of the other degrees. Frankly speaking I am not into MBA at all! But when it comes to the Business future in Kuwait it really worth. Unlike the Computer Science or Information Technology, you wont have variety of options for your career path. You may be a tutor in Kuwait University or in other private Universities as well. but for a women living in Kuwait, it does not work at all to have other jobs other than the one I mentioned before!

I have 5 months from now to register for both exams "TOEFL and GMAT" in order to enroll in the Business School. Since I am going for the MBA I have two options, whether to join AUM the "American University of Middle east" or KMBS the "Kuwait Maastricht Business school"?

The difference between AUM and KMBS:

AUM
  • You take like 3 to 4 subjects per semester.
  • No Thesis, only project to be submitted before graduation.
  • The cost is a bit higher, (7600 KD) for the entire study.
  • You graduate within two years.
  • Both TOFEL & GMAT needed.
  • Location Augaila.

KMBS

  • One subject at a time.
  • Thesis is submitted at the end of the last semester.
  • KMBS cost is a bit lower than AUM, (6900KD) as a whole.
  • You graduate after two years and a half.
  • Only TOFEL needed.
  • Location Dasma.

Preparing for MBA

It's been a while shifting from one major to the other when it comes to study for Master degree! I am so in love with Computers and Technology , IT was my major in the University. The problem that most of the IT jobs are limited and more likely available for guys only! Many people suggested that I should go for the MBA instead of having master degree in Technology or Computer Science. I was planning to attend Maastricht business school for the MBA, I was fearing not to success in Business as I didn't study any business subject before! so I changed my plan to have my master degree in Information Technology "MIT", but unfortunately we don't have this program in Kuwait, instead I would go to the state where there are many Universities that offer the MIT, but if I am going to study there I have to quit my job :( and because I am working in the private sector it is not that easy to apply for an educational leave!! Recently I decided to go for the MBA. I heard about the AUM "American University of Middle East" which is in affiliation with Purdue University in the United State, it will open soon in Kuwait and will start their first semester on October, and in order to apply for the MBA in AUM I need a total score of 55o for the TOFEL and I need to have the GMAT exam as well, for the GMAT they are not asking for a specific score, but they do ask for the GMAT itself.
Guess I should prepare my self from now and schedule the exams.

Preparing for my MBA degree

Meantime I am practising for the GMAT test(Graduate Management Admission Test) .. I went to Amiddest last week and purchased a valuable book called "Cracking the GMAT" for Geoff Martz and Adam Robinson, I've been reading through the book since one week.. I find it really helpful and comprehensive.
I was searching for the test center and then I noticed that there isn't any one in Kuwait.. the only test centers were Amiddest and Newhorizons, but they no longer do the test any more.. guess will have it in Bahrain.

Free And Enjoying it

I can't believe it I am free again, after spending around four years studying again in the University!!
I miss sleeping for hours! I need to lay down and think about other things other than books and programing. but sometimes between me and my self I feel bad cause I really used to spend my time studying and navigating the internet for evey new Technology.
My next plan is to get the CCNA Certificate, didn't start yet but I am preparing for it, selecting the right materials and timing.
for starter I have choosed the sybex book, as I find it really useful and straight forward.
guess it will take me around two or three months till I appreciate this study in order to schedule the exam, I have 9 chapters and a variety of virtual labs to be tackled during this study.
